Gene Expression Analysis

December 10, 2018 - 4:00pm to 6:00pm
Ricardo Henao

Gene expression aims to quantify the presence of (messenger) RNA in a biological sample. Gene expression quantities are a sensitive indicator of biological activity, i.e., changes in gene expression patterns are associated with changes in biological processes that can be leveraged to understand various phenomena including health and disease. This introductory session will be centered around gene expression analysis, including gene expression concepts, transcriptomics technologies (microarrays and RNA sequencing), exploratory analysis, univariate testing and multivariate modeling.
